Getting yourself ready for a guided walk and snowshoe trip.

The weather in New Zealand can be changeable, especially in the mountains. 

It's important to be prepared for all conditions all year round. Below are our recommended essentials for our walking trips.

Guided Snowshoe Trips

WHAT TO BRING OR WEAR:

  • Sturdy, covered footwear (hiking boots are best if you have them)
  • Warm thick socks
  • Thermal under layers (wool or polypropylene is best)
  • Warm mid layers (avoid cotton and denim)
  • A warm hat
  • Sunglasses (essential to avoid snow blindness)
  • Sunscreen (important as our sun is very harsh)
  • Warm gloves if you have them
  • Small water bottle
  • Waterproof jacket if you have one
  • Small day pack if you have one

 WHAT WE PROVIDE:

  • Transport to and from Queenstown accommodation (excludes private residence)
  • Snowshoes
  • Waterproof jacket
  • Over pants
  • Alpine gloves
  • Waterproof snow boots (if required)
  • Adjustable walking poles
  • Hot drinks and snacks
  • A knowledgeable guide for the whole itinerary

Other Guided Walking Trips

WHAT TO BRING OR WEAR:

  • Sensible footwear - closed toe, supportive sporting footwear at minimum
  • Thermal layers for winter walks
  • Warm mid layers for all walks
  • A warm hat or sun hat
  • Sunglasses all year round
  • Sunscreen all year round
  • Gloves if you have them
  • Waterproof jacket if you have one
  • Small day pack if you have one
  • A reasonable level of fitness will ensure an enjoyable walk
  • Remember to bring your camera and a smile

WHAT WE PROVIDE:

  • Transport to and from Queenstown accommodation (excludes private residence)
  • On Half Day walks - Morning or afternoon tea
  • On Full Day walks - Lunch consisting of sandwiches, fruit, tea/coffee and cookies. Bottled water and a muesli bar is provided for you at the beginning of the walk for you to snack on
  • On Privately Guided Full Day walks - A Kiwi style picnic lunch
  • Friendly, knowledgeable and cheerful local guides
  • Interpretative commentary of flora, fauna, history and geology
  • Day packs, wooden walking sticks and some wet weather gear / snow gear loaned if required
